Why
is your Worldview Important? |
We
believe that the infinite personal God of the Bible
is ultimate reality, not mere matter or energy shaped
by chance. We believe that men and women were designed
and created by this personal God in His image as personal
beings with a capacity for reason, emotion, and volition
... and as such human life has sanctity and value.
Consequently, we are ethically and morally accountable
for our choices and actions, which have value, significance,
meaning, and purpose in a universe which is not merely
impersonal. We further believe that in a purely impersonal
material universe there is no logical basis for morality,
ethics, objective knowledge, significance, purpose,
or human aspirations.

Can
we Know if our Worldview is true? |
"The
Christian worldview is both intellectually credible
and existentially satisfying"
- Tim Keller
|
|
"There
are philosophical, archaeological, historical, and evidential
tests for truth. Worldviews should be tested in the
same way that we test theories as to whether the earth
is round or flat. Science operates on the assumption
that there is objective truth. So should philosophy
and religion. The only reason to believe the Christian
worldview is that it is objectively true. It is unique
in that it stands up to honest intellectual and existential
scrutiny in a way that no other worldview does"
- Dave Seivright |

READING PROJECT
- Comparing the Secular and the Christian Worldviews
- - We recommend that you do a reading project of four books.
"The Reason for God" by Tim Keller, "Total Truth" by Nancy Pearcey, "The Question of God" by Armand Nicholi, Jr. and "Three Philosophies" by Peter Kreeft. Nicholi is the Harvard Prof. who recently moderated the excellent series on PBS by the same title as his book, comparing the secular worldview of Sigmund Freud with the theistic worldview of C. S. Lewis. Kreeft is a professor of philosophy at Boston College. For more info send email to: dave@seivright.com |
